Carrie E. Chaplin, 83, of 208 N. Mill street, passed away last evening at the Burgin Nursing Manor, where she had been a patient for the last several weeks. A lifelong resident of the County, Mrs. Chaplain was born in the Mt. Pleasant neighborhood and lived there most of her liftime. She was the daughter of Isaac Goss and Mary Sanders Goss. She married Oscar O. Chaplin who preceded her in death April 12, 1946.Mrs. Chaplin was a long time member of Mt. Pleasant Church. She leaves one daughter,Mrs. Hazel Arnold wife of City Police Officer Leo Arnold. She leaves two grandchildren, Mrs. Jewel (Rosemary) Eichorst of Olney and Bruce Arnold of Belleville, and 8 grandchildren. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Bert Goss and an infant sister Bertha Goss. Funeral services will be Tuesday afternoon at the Memorial Chapel of the Summers-Rainey Funeral Home, with the Rev. Fred Schwarzlose and Rev. Homer Herrin officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
