He was an active member and former trustee of St Paul Lutheran Church in Caro. He was a member of the church choir for 35 years and elder for 25 years and a member of the finance committee when the new church was built.
Earl had been employed at Caro Thumb Electric for 23 years, the last few years as manager of the Caro plant and retired in January of 1976.
Surviving him are his wife; son Earl; three grandchildren Amy, Michael and Kelly; two brothers Elmer and Harvey; one sister Betty and many nieces and nephews.
