Mr. Reed was a farmer and had been employed as a carpenter with Snow Hill Lumber until retiring in 1994. He was a veteran of the Army from 1943 to 1946. He belonged to the Corinth Christian Church near Foley; VFW Post 9064; and American Legion Post 226 in Elsberry.
Among survivors are his wife, Edna Reed of Elsberry; three sons, Louis Robert Reed, Milton Edward Reed and Michael Eugene Reed, all of Elsberry; two brothers, John Reed of Foley and George Robert Reed of Elsberry; four sisters, Mary Catherine Graves of Foley, Rebecca Stone of Elsberry, Rosa Lee Adams of Eolia and Jo Ann Ray of Louisiana, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, a step- grandchild, 15 great-grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 South Fifth Street, Elsberry. A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Corinth Christian Church, near Foley. Burial will be at Star Hope Cemetery on Highway 79 near Elsberry.
