Major of Cavalry, 1st CSA Regulars, Co A. Died in Corinth, Mississippi of wounds received the previous day at the Battle of Farmington, Tennessee. Brother of Francis and Thomas, son of Alfred and Elizabeth M. Ingraham.
His mother was Elizabeth Meade Ingraham, sister of the Union General Meade. When the Ingraham sons were buried, mobs of people tried to storm the cemetery in protest. Quakers protected the cemetery and grave on a day and night basis.
