Bobby Ray Cox, 72, of Kenefick died Monday, October 5, 2009 at home after an extended illness.

He was born August 12, 1937 in Houston, Texas to parents Bob and Chloe Worthy Cox and graduated from Jeff Davis High School. A resident of Kenefick for 27 years after moving from Northshore, retired from I.L.A. where he worked as a longshoreman at the Port of Houston for 42 years and was a member of the Masonic Lodge #1299. He enjoyed raising cattle, farming and most of all loved his family and grandchildren.

Service for Mr. Cox will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 8, 2009
at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. James Hicks officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Magnolia Park Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife of 49 years, Virginia Pafford Cox of Kenefick; his sons: Bobby Cox and wife Angie of Dayton, Scott Cox and wife Diana of Galena Park, Randy Cox and wife Denise of Kenefick, and Robert Cox of Kenefick; 8 grandchildren: Nolan, Alyssa, Brandon, Tiffany, Lindsey, Brittany, Roger, & Michael; two great-grandchildren; sister: Evelyn Tapley and husband Bill of Kingwood; brother: Larry Cox and wife Janice of Houston; sisters: Wanda Hicks and husband James of Kingwood and Jimmie Lynn Kief and husband Werner of Kingwood; also numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
