The following is from Abstracts of Notices in The Woodstock Sentinel: 1863 - 1866 compiled by Gary L. Sullivan. Dated 25 January 1866:
"Died Duquoin, IL of Typhoid Pneumonia after a brief illness of three weeks Emma L, age 18 years 11 months third daughter of Elijah and Sarah Burbank. The subject of the above notice removed from Woodstock with her father and family to Duquoin about two months since in perfect health, promising long life, but fall disease, unexpectedly to herself and friends, laid her in a premature grave. She was a young lady, who by her quiet manners, amiable disposition and well cultivated mind, had endeared herself to a large circle of friends who deeply sympathize with her afflicted family."
