Brinkman, Edwin W. born May 2, 1925 in the grasslands of Illinois, was called home March 17, 2007, from the home of his son Terry Lee, to our Lord Jesus and joins his loving wife of 50 years, Irma Faye (nee Gibson) at the table of God. During WW II as an Army Engineer he served in New Guinea, the liberation of the Philippines and occupation of Japan. Retired from Ozark Airlines as Lead Mechanic. Founding member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, O'Fallon, MO. Survived by his children, Marsha (John) Headrick, Mandy (Ed Stein) Loveland, Terry (Sheila) Hill, Frieda (Albert) Clark, Eydie (Ray) Ragsdale; brother, Ron Wilhelms; sister, Christine Wilmas; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nephews and nieces. Services: Visitation (10 a.m.) and funeral (11 a.m.) are Thursday, March 22 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in O'Fallon, MO. ST. LOUIS CREMATION.

(When he joined the service he dropped the second letter n) Born after his father died. Grew up at his mother's family farm just south of New Minden. Completed 8th grade and traveled to his uncle's (Rev. Elmer Pittelko) church in Reno OK. Worked at a glider factory in St. Louis before enlisting in the Army and served from 1942 to end of war. After completing boot camp in he was stationed at New Guinea with the motor pool for the Engineers, spent an R&R in Japan before returning home to his mother and stepfather's (pastor at Zion Lutheran church)home in Maryland Heights, MO. Edwin then went to Chicago to an airplane mechanic school. Edwin returned after graduating to take a job at Ozark Airlines. By the time TWA bought Ozark dad had been lead mechanic for many years. He met my mom there, who was working in the secretarial pool. When they married she quit work to care for the growing family. My dad soon was a father to three children from mom's first marriage and his own two daughters with Irma.)
