Harvey and his family were living at Benton Harbor, Michigan when his son Howard died at the young age of 8 months. His father lovingly inscribed his son's gravestone and it can be viewed here at Find-A-Grave (see family links below).

Harvey's obituary was published in The South Bend Tribune on February 17, 1979. It reports that he was born in Warsaw on October 2, 1880. This birth year conflicts with the census information and his WW1 & WW2 draft registrations. The WW1 information records his birthdate as October 2, 1886 (six years later than the obituary) and confirms his birth location at Warsaw. The WW2 information records his place of birth and the birth year the same as the earlier registration but the day as October 17, not October 2.

Survivors listed in Harvey's obituary include: two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Scudder of Niles and Mrs. Goldie Burkepile of St. Joseph, Mich; a son, Lawrence, also of St. Joseph; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and a great great-grandchild.
