Roy A. Fairbanks, Sr., 75, of Stryker passed away early Wednesday October 7, 2009 in his home. Prior to his retirement he had worked for Fulton Tubing in Archbold for many years.

Mr. Fairbanks was born on September 23, 1934 in Chattanooga, TN the son of James and Frances (Bell) Fairbanks. On November 11, 1964 he married Virginia Suydam and she survives. He was a member of the Stryker United Brethren Church and enjoyed wood working, motorcycles, fishing and hunting.

Surviving besides his wife, Virginia anr two sons; Roy "Andy" (Chastity) Fairbanks, Jr. of Defiance, Jeffrey Fairbanks of Owensville, OH, five daughters; Marion (Mark) Ridgeway of Stryker, Melinda Tharp of Williamsburg, Ohio, Dee (Gary) Gibbs, of Belle Center, OH, Karen (Butch) Schur of Delta, Pamela (David) Winners of Wahiawa, HI, 23 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and his mother; Fances Jordon of Ooltewan, TN. Also surviving is brother, William (Bea) Fairbanks of Ooltewan, TN, sister Joyce Lawson of Ooltewan, TN and extended family Jamie and Dawn Clingaman and family. Preceding him in death was his father, brothers; Doug and Howard Fairbanks and step-father; Dewey Jordon.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Saturday October 10, 2009 at the Stryker United Brethren Church with Pastor Nick Woodall and Pastor George Alley officiating. Interment will follow in the Stryker Cemtery. Friends may call at the Stryker United Brethren Church in Stryker from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00pm on Friday. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to either Hospice of Williams and Fulton counties or the American Cancer Society.
