Donald Edward Allen, 76, of the Arch Community, formerly of Kiowa, died Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009, at Muskogee Veterans Administration Hospital, Muskogee. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening at Bishop Funeral Service. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bishop Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Joe Randazzo officiating. Burial will be at Fort Gibson National Cemetery, Fort Gibson, under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service.Born on April 28, 1933, in Colcord, to Woodroe and Rachael Hyde Allen, he grew up and attended schools in the Colcord area and then entered the United States Army. Upon his discharge, he went to work as a miner in Colorado, Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico. He worked for the Department of Defense in Washington and also worked at the United States Naval Ammunition Depot as a railroad operator. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Allen, of the home; stepdaughter, Katherine Bryant, of Arch; daughter and son-in-law, Dianna and Clarence Woods, of Canadian; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Allen, of Missouri, Donald Ray Allen, of Missouri, Richard and Tami Allen, of Canadian Shores, Jack and Ramona Allen, of Canadian, Charles and Vanessa Allen, of Tannehill. And grandchildren, Jeff Bryant, Matt Bryant, Lanie Allen, Roy Allen, Amber Allen, Megan Allen, Ileah Allen, Jacob Allen, Reanna Allen, Donald Allen, Tina Benefield, Phillip Benefield, Andrew Benefield, and great-grandchildren, John Sowers, Meadow Sowers, Serenity Piorkowski, Alexis Piorkowski. He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents; a sister, Roberta Mancuso, and his second wife, Barbara Jean Lewis.
