Lt. Colonel John (Jack) F. Poole, 92, of Milford, husband of Clara Barrey Poole, died Aug. 28,in Milford Health Care.

Son of the late Benjamin F. and Emily Ovenden Poole, he was born Dec. 19, 1916.

Mr. Poole was a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University, receiving a degree in marketing. He proudly served active duty in World War II and reserve for more than 20 years in the US Army, attaining the rank of lieutenant colonel. Before retiring, he was employed in the marketing department of SNET.

Mr. Poole was a volunteer for the Milford Police Department, the American Red Cross and the Boy Scouts of America. He also was talented in vintage-clock repair.

Besides his wife, survivors include his children, Kathi Poole Maisano of Ansonia, Richard Poole of Sandwich, Mass., Steven Poole of Dumfries, Va., and Robert Poole of Alpharetta, Ga.; stepson, Hugh Smith of Milford; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased a brother, Benjamin G. Poole; stepsons, Dwight Smith and Barrey Smith; and first wife, Janice Bowne Poole.

Services are Friday, Oct. 9, at noon, at Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 N. Broad St., Milford. Friends may call prior to the service, at 11 a.m.

Burial will follow in Kings Highway Cemetery.
