Lenard Franklin Adams was born to Noah Andrew and Susie Maye Bragg Adams on November 19, 1905 in Tribbey Oklahoma. His mother passed away October 6, 1908 leaving her husband with two small children.
Noah moved in with his Daddy James Russell and two sisters Lorania and Lucy no doubt caring for the children.
The families lived close in the same community around Byres in McClain County. Daddy went to one and the other. Daddy mainly lived with His Uncle Manly Bragg and other relatives.
At age 19 He married Iva Ethel Smith on August 25,1925 making their home near Lindsay Oklahoma. They would loose their first child Junior at the age of three. He was the first Adams in our plot in Erin Springs Cemetery. When Daddy went to town, Mother would stay at the cemetery and pull johnsongrass from around Junior's little grave and throw it over the fence. It made me so sad for them that they lost this little boy.
Daddy made a good choice when he picked Mother. Between them being hard workers and mother being a good manager and the heart of our home, together they would prosper. They went on to have five more children, living in Oklahoma and Texas farming communities, then retired back to Oklahoma.
After Mother died in 1979 Daddy lived by himself and did pretty well, us girls would clean a little when we come to visit. He enjoyed going to the Longhorn Café in Alex for coffee and visiting. He would take us down to eat there so he could show us off, he was proud of all us kids, he would say ‘there ain't an ugly one in the bunch"
Daddy lived about a year after having a stroke, passing away on February 4,1992 in Norman Regional Hospital.
He lived a good long life, worked hard and would give you the shirt off his back.
