James Lee Berendt, 68, Little Falls, MN, died Sept. 27, 2009, in Minneapolis.

He was born July 6, 1941, to John and Helen Berendt in Little Falls. He graduated from Little Falls High School in 1959. Jim started working at Larson Boatworks, then he worked on the construction of the Big Bend Dam in Chamberlain, SD. In 1962 he went to work for Brockway Glass in Rosemount and then Garrett Freight Lines in St. Paul. He returned to Little Falls in 1968 and worked 30 years for Hennepin Paper Co. Jim went back to Larson Boatworks until he retired in 2003.

He married Janet Budenski of Cannon Falls on April 16, 1966 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and friends, enjoyed spending time at their cabin in the woods near Itasca State Park and later at a small camper he used during hunting season. Jim was handy with remodeling and completed various building projects around their home. Jim was a member of St. Mary's Church and the Little Falls Rifle Club.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Janet; sons, Jerome, Little Falls, and Jack (Kristie), Fort Ripley; grandchildren Brianna, Jacob, Joshua and Kylie; mother-in-law, Grace Budenski, Cannon Falls; sister-in-law, Marjorie Berendt, Cannon Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, John.

Funeral services were held Sept. 30, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Little Falls. Interment was in St. Adalberts Cemetery, Little Falls.
