Margaret "Marge" O. Buck, 82, was born in Tuttle, Okla., to Arthur and Flossie Buck on March 9, 1926 and died on December 17, 2008, at Summerville in St. Augustine. She was a Vietnam veteran. Having grown up with 11 siblings, Marge's heritage is linked with the history of the west. Having spent all of her growing up years picking cotton, vegetables and harvesting wheat, Marge left her family down on the farm and joined the Air Force in 1954 as an aircraft dispatcher in airport ground control. Duty took her throughout the U.S. and Southeast Asia. Marge came to live in St. Augustine soon after her retirement from the USAF in 1974, and her charity and compassion for others is legendary. For 15 years, she was caretaker to Hazel Reed, a heart patient and long-time Air Force friend, who died in 1989. Sisters Elsie Spence, Austin, Texas; Bernice Cruzan, Tuttle, Okla.; and June Johnson, Vienna, Ill.; brother Eugene Buick, Tuttle, Okla.; and many nieces and nephews survive her.
