John Eddie Holmes was a buddy of mine. We played many musical gigs together. Originally, John was born in Aiken South Carolina to Broadus and Lula Holmes but at an early age moved to Brooklyn, N.Y.. He studied music and played the guitar. He began his professional career performing with the Sherell's in 1968. In addition to performing locally, he recorded an album entitled" Looking At The Stars" with longtime musical partner organist Jimmy Hill in 1986. John Eddie Holmes was one of a kind and is truly missed.
