Gospel preacher, writer, and debater. John Allen Hudson hailed from Coldwater, Miss. In 1911, J. W. Crumley baptized him, and he soon attended Cordell Christian College in Oklahoma. Hudson's ministries extended from coast to coast including Washington, D.C.; New York City; Memphis and Los Angeles. Hudson also spent two years in New Zealand and Australia (1936-37) and made several trips to Great Britain. Early in life he developed a keen interest in the history of the Restoration Movement and wrote a number of books and articles on historical subjects. In 1945, he founded the Old Paths Book Club, which reprinted classic works of early Restoration leaders including Alexander Campbell, Moses E. Lard, and many others. In 1952, he began publishing his own monthly religious periodical, the Bible Advocate, which ran for several years.
