James Teela Pifer

FANNING SPRINGS, Fla. -- James Teela Pifer, age 76, died on Friday, October 9, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. in Columbia, Georgia.
He was born on Feb. 9, 1933 in Williamstown, Ohio to Floyd H. and Sophronia Kay (Houdeshell) Pifer, who preceded him in death. On October 19, 1951 he married Sarah Fricks and she died on November 30, 1989. He later married Lucille Reider on January 16, 1993 and she survives in Fanning Springs, Florida.

James retired after 42 years from Airfoil Textron, where he worked as a machinist supervisor. James was the longest working employee in the history of the company. He was a former member of the Moose International of Indian Lake; member of the Suwanee River Cruisers Boat Club in Florida; social member of the Ada VFW Post #9381. James was an avid golfer and he enjoyed hunting, camping, yard work and Karaoke. He was a fan of the Ohio State University Football team.

Also surviving are five sons: James Lee (Andrea) Pifer of Ada; Jeffrey Lynn (Sherri) Pifer of Alger; Jerry Lane Pifer of Lima; Joel Lance (Anna) Pifer of Hinesville, GA; and Jon Lawrence Pifer of Lima; brother, William Pifer of Williamstown; two sisters: Eileen (Gerald) Inbody and Arlene (Joe) Schaaf both of Jenera; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Lee Michael Pifer and a sister, Sarah Jane Lintz.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, with the Pastor G. Alan Brown, II OSL. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Ada.

Friends may call 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada and until time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.
