Genevieve Fern Armstrong, age 92, a resident of Fort Scott, died Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at the Mercy Health Center in Fort Scott. She was born October 31, 1915, at Fort Scott, Kansas, the daughter of Richard Byron Headrick and Mary Frances Barnett Headrick. She married James R. Armstrong on April 7, 1935, at Richards, Missouri. He preceded her in death on June 10, 1968. Genevieve was a member of the Community Christian Church. She was active with the 55 Plus group and the Quilters and also volunteered her time to help with Vacation Bible School and funeral dinners.

Survivors include two sons, Jim Armstrong, O'Fallon, Missouri and Ray Lee Armstrong, North Little Rock, Arkansas; a daughter, Mary Lou Johnson, Fort Scott, Kansas; five grandchildren and three great-grandsons. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three infant children, five brothers, Lorence, Edgar, Byron, David and Roy Headrick, and three sisters, Mary Frances Headrick, Flora Mae Bess and Thelma Acridge.

Pastor Tim Woodring will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2008, at the Community Christian Church. Burial will follow in the East Liberty Cemetery at Stotesbury, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Community Christian Church and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Ft. Scott, KS 66701.

Genevieve Fern Armstrong, age 92, a resident of Fort Scott, died Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at Mercy Health Center, in Fort Scott.
