Henry Frain, 74, of 3323 P Street N.W., former operator of the Dumbarton Theater, died unexpectedly today at his home of a heart ailment.
Mr. Frain, a native and lifelong resident of Washington, was the son of the late Davis and Maria Frain. He succeeded his father in business as a painting contractor. About 25 years ago, with the late William Marcer, he built the Dumbarton. When Mr. Marcer died several years ago, he became the sole owner. Two years ago Mr. Frain retired, leasing the theater to a corporation.
Mr. Frain was president of the Knickerbocker Club and a member of the Elks' Club of Washington.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Emma Harkins Frain; three sons, Harry A., Elmer P. and Hugh D. Frain; two daughters, Mrs. Nellie L. Killeen and Mrs. Anna L. Stake, all living in Washington, and two sisters, Mrs. Sally Shea of Lancaster, Pa., and Mrs. Bertie Claridge of this city.
