Alden was born in Minersville, Utah in 1917 to Nils Martin Johnson and Dora Audrin Stoddard.

He was the first of 7 children as follows:
Alden Volfreid Johnson
Selma Joy Johnson Kirk
Carroll Basil Johnson
Orlyn N. Johnson
Nils Martin Johnson Jr.
Delane Johnson
Sandra Gail Johnson Pedersen

He was married to Fern Christensen and lived in Baker California in 1939-1940.

They had two children Alden Volfied Johnson Jr (1940-2004) and Kurt Johnson.

He enlisted in the US Army Jan 12, 1945 and served in WWII. He suffered an injury during a parachute jump. He later was promoted from the grade of private first class to SSgt and assigned the duties of mess sergeant in the 136th "Bearcat" Infantry reg- iment in the veteran S3rd Divi-- sion, a part of the occupational forces in General Walter Krueger's Sixth Army on Honshu.

He and his wife Fern lived at 3201 E 70th S in South Cottonwood, Salt Lake for many years. He built, owned, and operated a bar business The Branding Iron later Wagon Wheel near the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon.

Alden and Fern were later divorced.

He moved to Southern California in about 1957 and eventually lived in Simi, California.

He married Bene Tucker abt 1963 and they moved back to his hometown of Milford, Utah in about 1968

"John" as he was often called, lived in Milford, Utah for many years. He, along with his wife Bene were community favorites throughout Beaver, County every Christmas for their role playing Mr. And Mrs, Santa Clause.

John possessed a very witty and whimsical personality and was a favorite among family, friends and neighbors.

He died in Milford, Utan
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Sandra Gail Pedersen. He is survived by his wife Bene, his sons: Alden Volfried Johnson Jr, Nevada, Kurt (Linda) Johnson, Midvale, Utah, Steve Johnson Salt Lake, daughter Sandi Trindel LaVerkin, Utah and by his brothers Carroll Basil (Jean) Johnson, Iowa, Orlyn ( Dorris) Johnson, Salt Lake City, Utah, Nils Martin Johnson Jr (Bernice), Florida, Delane Johnson (Anna), Milford, Utah and by his sister Selma Joy (Delmar) Kirk, Milford., Utah and by many grandchildren.
