Robert Cahill was of Irish descent, the son of Michael and Mary Cahill. His family operated a large dairy farm in Iowa. Robert married Annie Kippen (1885-1957) in 1914. Annie was the daughter of Robert & Christy Fraser Kippen. Her brother was Angus Kippen. Robert and Annie had one daughter, Mary Lucille, who was born November 1, 1915. After farming in the Omemee area for three years, the family moved to Iowa where Bob managed a John Deere Implement Company for eight years. North Dakota had strong ties, so the family moved back to Omemee. Bob resumed farming and Annie operated a boarding and rooming house for local teachers, hired members of the area's famous baseball team, utility repair crews, train crews, transients (those who paid and those who didn't) and the local bachelors. After Bob died, Annie and her mother, Christy, moved to Seattle to be near Lucille, a registered nurse. Christy Kippen died in 1950 and Annie died in 1957.
