Mr. Winchester was owner and operator of Winchester's of Carthage. He was born June 5, 1907, in Joplin, son of the late Dr. A. N. Winchester, long-time Joplin physician, and Mrs. Hinda Winchester. He was graduated from Joplin high school and attended Ozark Wesleyan college in Carthage. He was with EDCO in Columbus, Ohio, from 1944 to 1949 and was a manufacturer's representative for a number of years.

He and Mrs. Winchester were married June 28, 1946 at the home of her parents [314 Euclid Boulevard in Carthage MO], Mrs. Marian Wright Powers, and the late Dr. Everett Powers, prominent Carthage eye, ear, nose, and throat specialist. They made their home in Columbus until April 11, 1949 when they returned to Carthage. Seven years ago, Mr. Winchester established Winchester's of Carthage, a mail order house.

He was a member of Grace Episcopal church, Carthage Chamber of Commerce, Carthage Council of the United Commercial Travelers, and the Sportsmen's League. Surviving in addition to his wife are a sister, Mrs. Victor Landreth, Mexico City, and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Powers. Taken in part from the Carthage Evening Press, April 13, 1964.
