Stanley John Kessler, was the son of Benjamin Franklin and Iva Fenton Pointer Kessler. His siblings were: Charles Kessler (died young), Grace Kessler (died young), and Edith Marie (Hagood). They were members of the Church of Christ and the family started out in Missouri.

On August 28, 1909 in Pratt, Kansas he married Minnie Jeannette Lee. They farmed near Iuka, Pratt Co., KS. in 1917 they moved to Tyrone, OK. and then to Texhoma, OK. In 1923 they moved to Pueblo, CO. where he was employed by the Colorado Fuel and Iron Company. In 1928, they moved to Eads, Colorado where he and his sons plowed 2,800 acres of prairie and started a wheat farm. The dust storms forced them into bankruptcy in 1936. The following spring they moved to Delta, CO. and farmed until 1940. In 1942 they moved to Hawthorne, Nevada where Stanley worked for the Hawthorne Navel Depot until his death in 1955. They were members of the Baptist Church. Stanley had belonged to the Leita Lodge #1235, BPOE in Delta, CO. He also enjoyed sports and often umpired for local baseball games.

They had seven children: Herbert James, John K. (died young), Iva Georgiana (died young), Cecil Leonard, Stanley Truman, Leland Lee, and Charles Ray.
