After the death of his 1st wife, he married Mattie Jones & together they had 2 children: John W. Bateman (1891~____) & Goldie Lor Bateman (1895~1944)-Goldie married Arthur Odell Davis.
According to his Granddaughter, Ruby Ola Hart Gwin, he was a "Hotel Man". However, Census Records show "Farmer".
