Sarajane Craft Batchelor, 98, was born in Vermont, IL, but grew up in San Diego. She attended Knox College, where she was a Phi Mu, graduated from Oklahoma City University, and settled in Oklahoma City, where she married Dr. John Batchelor. She enjoyed a long, wonderful life raising her children, participating in numerous activities, and traveling the world with her husband and family. A passionate genealogist, she was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Huguenot Society, The Guild of St. Margaret of Scotland, the Order of the Crown of Charlemagne, the National Society of Colonial Dames of America, serving 5 years as president of the Oklahoma Society, Regent of Dumbarton House in Washington, DC and a Lady of Dumbarton, was instrumental in establishing and maintaining the Colonial Dames' Museum Room in the Overholser Mansion in Oklahoma City and was active in the Art League, Philomathea, and the English Speaking Union. Her husband and two sons, John and Bruce, preceded her in death. In the quiet haven of death, she is remembered as a woman of dignity and character, devoted to her husband and family, especially her beloved children, Gordon and his wife, Brenda, and son Blake; Robina and her husband, Lyle, and children, Vanessa, Mara, and Peter; and Malcolm and his wife, Kay, and children Stuart, Elaine, and Laura. Memorials are requested for the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, 825 NE 13th, Oklahoma City 73104. Services in the Abbey Mausoleum at Rose Hill Burial Park at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 23.
