MCGUIRE, PIERCE FREEMAN, age 85, passed away May 5, 1998. A retired minister, he had pastored churches in Alabama and Kentucky, including Packer Memorial Baptist Church; Bessemer Second Baptist; Hamilton First Baptist; South Hamilton Baptist; Calvary Baptist in Montgomery; Pike Road Baptist in Pike Road; West Blocton First Baptist; and Evergreen Baptist in Vance. At the time of his death, he was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church. He was a native of Haleyville, and was married to the late Jewel Cheatham McGuire. He was a graduate of Howard College and Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville, Ky. He is survived by his son, John Richard McGuire and wife Belinda; daughters, Charlotte Akin, Maurene and husband, Truett Guffin, Murlene and husband, John Heilman; brothers, Parker McGuire of Haleyville, Noble McGuire of Dalton, Ga., and Oscar McGuire of Roberta, Ga.; and sister, Faye Hollis of Roberta, Ga.; grandchildren, Jane Houchins, Joan Patrick, Dr. Brian Guffin, Rev. Scott Guffin, Grant Guffin, Amy Akin, Lisa Akin, Drew Akin, Allison McGuire, and Richard McGuire; ten great grandchildren.
