Mr. Alfred E. "Al" Waggle, 81, of Olney and formerly of Rose Hill, passed away at 12:15 p.m. Saturday, October 17, 2009, at Emerald Glen in Olney.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home in Newton. Services celebrating Al's life will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Bro. Tom Matson officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery in Newton with full military rites by Ste. Marie Post #932 American Legion.

Mr. Waggle was born July 20, 1928, in Hugo, the son of Arthur and Florence (Wells) Waggle. He married Elizabeth Anne Mavity on September 1, 1948. She preceded him in death on January 5, 2000.

He served his country in the United States Army from 1946 to 1948. He was a retired farmer and had served Crooked Creek Township as road commissioner for 16 years. He was an avid coon hunter and was a member of the Jasper County Coon Hunters. He enjoyed fishing and playing cards.

Mr. Waggle is survived by his children, Judy and her husband, Carl Griffith, of Newton, Carl and his wife, Deb Waggle, of Claremont, Connie Ginder, of New Baden, John and his wife, Terry Waggle, of Olney, Cheryl and her husband, Harry Ulrich, of New Athens, and Terri and her husband, John E. Michl, of Ste. Marie; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Pankey, Ruth Tuteweiler and Lois Franklin, all of Charleston, Nora Edith Hupp, of Edmond, Okla.; and brothers, Harry Waggle, of Charleston, and George Waggle, of Greenup.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elizabeth Anne Waggle; son, Larry Waggle; and a son-in-law, Jack Ginder.
