Lynn Roe Hudson

September 12, 1927 – October 14, 2009
Born in Diller, Nebraska to Roe Kenneth and Esther Eltavine Mann Hudson, he was the third of five children; Dee, Wade, Lynn, Mary Ann and Ellen. The early days were spent on a farm near Powell, NE.
He attended elementary school in Powell, NE in a rustic one-room school house with a coal stove for heat in the middle and one dipper in the bucket for all to drink from.
Lynn attended Alexandria High School graduating in 1945. Being a small school, they played six-man football. He played center and their team won the state tournament several years in a row.
Academically, he was an excellent student. Numbers and math came easy for him. After he graduated he worked for a construction crew building roads and culverts.
He met Darlene Mae Knigge (May 4, 1930) in high school. They were married on August 24, 1951 in Alexandria.
Debra Dea was born on September 17, 1953. Three years later, Kenneth Lynn arrived on August 2, 1956, giving Lynn's mother her first grandson after having nine granddaughters.
The family moved to Boulder, Colorado in September 1956 where Lynn worked as detailer for Rush Motors. Their youngest child, William David was born May 2, 1959.
Lynn worked at Coors Brewery starting in March of 1959, and he retired April, 1988 after 29 years. While at Coors he served on the Coors Fire Brigade and the First Aid Team.
Lynn was a volunteer firefighter with the Arvada Fire Department from 1961 to 1981. He completed his EMT certification. He worked part time at H & R block as a tax preparer and office manager. He taught classes and became an enrolled Agent for the IRS.
After retirement, with more leisure time, Darlene and Lynn spent time at Mr. Massive Lakes south of Leadville. One of his greatest pleasures was teaching his grand and great- grandchild to fish. During the snowy Colorado winders, Lynn and Darlene became snowbirds spending time at Verde West. The community of friends has become family.
