Kenneth E. Barkhimer, age 70, of Maumee passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital. Mr. Barkhimer was born in Toledo on June 25, 1939, to George and Alliene (Miller) Barkhimer. He married Ruth Ann Coger in Toledo on November 24, 1962. An Airman 2nd Class Veteran, with the Ohio Air National Guard, Kenneth worked for the IBEW Local 8 as an electrician, retiring in 2001. A 1957 graduate of Macomber Vocational, he served for 9 years as an Executive Board Member for Local 8 as well as being their Union Organizer for 4 years. He was also a member of the NW Ohio Building Trades. A devoted husband, father, brother and friend, he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Surviving are his loving wife of 46 years, Ruth Ann; sons, David Barkhimer; Jeff Barkhimer; brother, Robert (Irene) Barkhimer; sisters, Beverly Glenn; Sharon (Ron) Engel and Margaret Barner. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Barbara Disher and Rosemary Presley. Friends and family will be received in the Neville Funeral Home, 7438 Airport Highway, Holland (419-865-8879) from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday, October 20 and from 2-9 p.m. Wednesday, October 21. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 22, 2009, with Pastor Brent Brutlag, officiating. Burial will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
