Mrs. Fenton died at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at Fair Oaks Nursing Home, Greenville.
She was born March 2, 1926, in Hillsboro, daughter of Truman and Anna (Thomas) Watson. After the death of her mother, her father married Leona Saathoff, who helped raise Ruth.
Mrs. Fenton graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1943. She had been employed at Brown Shoe Company in Litchfield, a hospital in Brookfield, MO, Fayette County Hospital and Belleville Memorial Hospital. She also had worked as a sales clerk in a Christian supply book store in Olney. She was a member of the Greenville First United Methodist Church, where memorials may be directed.
She married Elmer L. Fenton on Dec. 8, 1944, at the Methodist Church in Litchfield, and he survives. Mr. and Mrs. Fenton pastored numerous churches in Illinois and Missouri.
Mrs. Fenton leaves one son, Jerry L. Fenton of Phoenix, AZ; one daughter, Karen (husband Tim) Rajchart of St. Louis County, MO; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren;
Preceding her in death were a brother, Robert Watson; a sister, Elaine Elam; and a granddaughter, Adrianne Fenton.
