Bill served his country in the US Marine Corp for four years during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He was the recipient of two Purple Hearts.
Bill married Lorraine Meyer of Sheboygan, WI in 1946 and together, they moved to California in 1948.
Bill is survived by his wife, two sons and one daughter. He is further survived by his mother, two sisters and two brothers.
Note: Bill was one of 6 US Marines involved in the first raising of the American flag on Mt Suribachi at approximately 10:00 AM on February 23, 1945 during the Battle of Iwo Jima.
