PRENTISS - Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for L.W. Sherman, 75, of Rt. 2, New Hebron, who died early Saturday at the Baptist Medical Medical Center in Jackson.
The Rev. Vic Baughman and the Rev. Jimmy McNair will officiate. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Sherman was a native and lifelong resident of Simpson County. He was a farmer and had formerly operated a mercantile business in the Pleasant Hill community. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Neola Sherman; two sons, David Sherman of New Hebron and Dan Sherman of Jackson; two daughters, Mrs. Travis (Becky) May of Mendehall and Mrs.. Mitchell (Missouria) Cody of New Hebron; 17 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Melba McAlpin of Shreveport, La.; a stepson, James King of Jackson; and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Kermit (Janis) Goldman of Tallahatchie.
The body will lie in state at the family residence. Saulters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
