He was the son of John F. Pillsbury (born in Maine) and Rose E. (??) (born in PA).

Frank was first married to Mary Elizabeth Spisak. She died in 1986.

He married second, on May 27, 1989, to Mrs. Virginia Mae (Anderson) Crago.

When in the Navy, Frank served was assigned to one of the first ships to be used as an aircraft carrier (a converted coal carrier).

Frank proudly served his country as a US Navy Aviation Ordnanceman. As a First Class Petty Officer (AOM1c) he witnessed the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor from NAS Pearl Harbor. He completed the War and attained the honored title of "Chief". He left the service as an ACOM(PA).

He was received into membership of Wright Memorial Presbyterian Church, Barnegat, NJ on April 6, 1958 and remained a member until his death in 2001.
