Married Trientje 'Tena' G Goeman on 3 July 1920 in Waterloo, Iowa. Together they had 4 children, 2 survived, Carroll G Hawkins and Marjorie E Hawkins. Tena passed away due to cancer on 1 Mar 1927. Shortly after Tena's death Jason married Irene Crane Thompson of West Virginia on 3 Oct 1927 in Chicago, Illinois. Jason's son, Carol and wife, Irene, were living in Meadow Bluff, Greenbrier Co, West Virginia on the 1930 Census but where Jason and daughter Marjorie were is unknown at this point. Shortly afterwards, Jason and Irene were divorced.
On 11 Jan 1934, Jason married Laura L Hawkins in Chicago, Illinois. They had three children, Elizabeth Lucille, Patrick William and Michael Edward.
After the war, Jason worked as a teamster. When he came to Chicago, he worked in shipping departments and finally got a job at the United States Post Office and worked his way up to being able to oversee the 4th floor at the main office. He retired in 1970 and moved to Chula Vista, California. Where he lived until his death in the Scripps Clinic La Jolla of pneumonia, lung cancer and arteriosclerosis.
I remember Grampa with a pipe and the wonderful smell of pipe smoke. It's horrible that his love of pipe smoking took his life.
