Funeral services celebrating the life of Viva Sue Stephens, 89, were Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Hornbeck, Louisiana. Revs. Kenneth Baggs and Buddy Airhart officiated. Interment followed in Prewitt's Chapel Cemetery. Sue passed away at her home in Hornbeck after a courageous battle with cancer. Sue was born February 16, 1922, in Guntersville, Alabama, to Andrew Mack and Myra Jane Sims.

She was an awesome wife and mother and the best Granny ever. She had a great love for her God, church, family and friends, and most of all her sweetheart of 63 years, Edd. Sue was an avid gardener and loved her house plants. She was a retired seamstress from Kemah, Texas, where she designed and assembled her own patterns of sails for racing sailboats all over the world. She designed and quilted several quilts over the years for her family and friends that we will be able to enjoy for many years to come.

After her retirement she helped took care of her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren with love and care.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edd Stephens, her parents, and three sisters, Thelma, Lorene and Billie.

She is survived by three daughters; her eight grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

We would like to say "thank you" to everyone for all your prayers and words of comfort. God Bless.

Services were under Libby Memorial Funeral Home.
