Dr. Wright was a hospital Steward in the Confederate Army. When the war ended, he enrolled in the St. Louis medical school where he graduated with honors.

TJ practiced in Chilhowee and Warrensburg Missouri where he served as the Johnson County Coroner. He also had an office in Dodge City, Kansas.

In 1892, he was elected President of the Sebastian Co. Medical Society. In addition, he was the Director of the Hospital section of the prison at Ft. Smith.

TJ was also one of the first practitioners to push for the inclusion of Alternative Medicines and wrote several papers on their use.
