Henry Jordan PEVEY was born in October of 1861, the eldest child of:
• Thomas Milton PEVEY (the son of Guilford PEAVY & Dicey MOORE) &
Catharine ROBERTS (parents unknown).
His widowed mother is also buried at Guyton City Cemetery, Effingham County, Georgia, and his father was likely buried here as well. His parents and their children lived in Screven, Effingham and Bulloch Counites.

In 1888, he married Mary J. EDWARDS, "Mollie" (the daughter of Joshua A. EDWARDS & his second wife and cousin, Elizabeth Jane EDWARDS) of Effingham County. They were the parents of four children, born 1889-1899:
• Effie PEVEY (born 1889), the wife of R. I. DAVIS,
• Vertia PEVEY JORDAN (1893-1971),
• Ella PEVEY (born 1894), the wife of H. R. VARN, and
• William PEVEY, "Willie," (born 1899).

Georgia Death Certificate: Henry Jordan PEVEY was born in Screven County; his father, Tom PEVEY, was also born in Georgia. He was a city employee for Savannah and a resident of 413 East Perry Street, who died at St. Josephs Hospital, Savannah, Chatham County, at the age of 66, with burial at Guyton, leaving a widow, Mrs. Mary PEVEY. The informant for her death certificate was his son-in-law, H. R. VARN, also of 413 East Perry Street.

Savannah Morning News, issues of Thursday, the 7th of July, 1927 11:3 & Friday, the 8th of July, 1927 3:5 - Mortuary - Henry Jordon PEVEY, a city employe, died yesterday morning after a long illness in a local hospital. The remains will be sent this morning by Sipple Brothers to Guyton, where funeral services and burial will be held as soon as the train arrives. Mr. PEVEY is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary P. PEVEY; a son, William PEVEY, and three daughters, Mrs. Efffie DAVIS, Mrs Verdie JORDAN, and Mrs. Ella VARN, all of Savannah. Rev. HORTON will conduct services. Pallbeareres will be L. E. ELKINS, J. W. SIMMONS, L. F. ELKINS, R. E. NORTON, C. J. FUTRELL and W. J. RAHN.
