Miss Lucy Matheny, member of a pioneer Sangamon county family and lifelong resident of Springfield, died at 7 o'clock yesterday morning at the family residence. Death resulted from a heart affection following an illness of some time. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at the residence. Interment will be made in Oak Ridge cemetery.
Decedent had been an active member of First M. E. church since her childhood. She was a daughter of the late James H. and Maria L. Matheny who were among the early settlers of Sangamon county. Mr. Matheny was county judge for seventeen years preceding his death. Miss Matheny is survived by two brothers, Dr. Ralph C. Matheny, Galesburg; Robert Matheny, city; one sister, Miss Eleanor Matheny, city. Three brothers, Lee, E. Dow and James H. Matheny, preceded her in death. IL State Journal, Springfield, IL 12-5-1928
