Death of Thomas Van Meter.

Eminence, Ky., June 17.---Thomas C. Van Meter, one of the oldest and most prominent citizens of Eminence, died after an illness which has lasted back for several years. He was one of the most famous Shorthorn breeders in America.

Thomas Cunningham Van Meter was born in Clark Co, KY, the son of well to do farmer Isaac Van Meter & his wife Rebecca (Cunningham) Van Meter, both of whom were born in Hardy Co, VA (now WV).

He was married 13 Mar 1855 in Garrard Co, KY to Orpah Campbell d/o Whittaker Campbell and his wife Parmelia Perkins.

Thomas and Orpah were the parents of one daughter:

Lena Katherine Van Meter (1864-1934), w/o John A. Crabb (1861-1948).
