Myrtle Kennard passed away at Mulvane, KS October 25, 2009. She was born January 26, 1911, at Hooker, OK, to Noah and Sarah Highley.

She was married to Oscar Kennard April 11, 1931 at Colony, KS. He preceded her in death March 27, 1977.

She was also preceded by her parents; a son, Jack Kennard; sisters, Elsie Ryan, Altis Schaapveld, Martha Hunter, and Millie Roberts; a brother, Elmer Highley; and a son-in-law, George Hively.

She lived most of her life around Burlington and Waverly, KS. She belonged to the E.H.U., the 3M Club, and was a 50 year member of the Lucky Grange.

She is survived by two daughters, Loma Hively, Mulvane, KS, and Romona (Larry) Bartee, Osage City, KS; a son, Jerry (Lois) Kennard, Pomona, KS; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, Oct. 29, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington.

Burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Burlington.

Visitation will be 9:30 A.M. until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions to the Myrtle Kennard Memorial Fund may be sent in care of the funeral home, PO Box 277, Burlington 66839.
