Turton Pioneer to be Buried Saturday

Clark - Mar 19 - Funeral services will be held at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Turton Saturday for Mrs. Mary Fortin, Turton pioneer. The Rev. F.W. Issenhuth will be in charge. The body will remain at the Nash Funeral Home in Clark until Thursday evening and a rosary service will be held Friday evening at her home.

Pallbearers will be Lester Understock, Clark; Leo Remily, Lester Fortin, Victor Fortin, Amy Fortin and Elmer Steffes, Turton.

Mary Ponton Fortin was born in 1871 in Ashkum, Ill. Her parents were Noel and Adeline Ponton. She came to Turton 65 years ago and married Treff Fortin Nov 3, 1886. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Turton.

Surviving are two sons, Matt P. Fortin and Floyd Fortin, Turton; three daughters, Mrs. Exerie Berrie, Turton; Mrs. E.C. Fregon and Mrs. Elmer Gange of California; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband who died in 1908; two sisters, three sons and one daughter.
