She was born Aug. 10, 1924 in Battle Creek to Dewey F. and Hattie (Hanson) Johnson. She was raised on a farm southwest of Ida Grove. Upon graduating from Ida Grove High School in 1941, she became a country school teacher.
On Nov. 1, 1976 she was united in marriage to Robert Magnuson and they made their home in Remsen. He died unexpectedly after five years of marriage. She then become a resident of the Abbey Nursing Home, where she made her home for the past 22 years.
Survivors include her mother, Hattie Johnson of Arcata, Calif.; two brothers and their wives, Melvin and Juanita Johnson of Schaller, and Duane and Patricia Johnson of Ida Grove; and one sister and her husband, Shirley and Herbert Peterson of Arcata, Calif., plus nieces and nephews
