IOTA – Funeral services for Gurtis Mae Daigle Whittington, 80, were held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, in Miller French Baptist Church in Gott's Cove with Rev. Gary Dardar and Rev. Jimmy Powers officiating.
Burial was in Miller French Baptist Cemetery, under the direction of Matthews and Son Funeral Home of Jennings.
Visitation was held at the church from 4:30-10 p.m. Friday and continued from 10 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday.
Mrs. Whittington died on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, at her residence in Iota.
She was born in Iota to John C. and Ora Marie Laughlin Gotte. Mrs. Whittington was a homemaker who loved to wash dishes, read her Bible, and sing. She also enjoyed helping others.
Survivors include her husband, Dallas Whittington of Crowley; one son, Harvey "Butch" (Katie) Daigle of Gott's Cove; one sister, Elverla Richard of Jennings; four grandchildren, Andy West, Maura Guillory, Margo Lege, and Emma Hebert; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herbert Daigle; one daughter, Erna Miller; five brothers; and four sisters.
