Stephen was born in Wildflecken,Germany.His
parents came to America and settled in the
Chicago area.
Stephen and his parents were living in Detroit,
Michigan when he enlisted in the Marines 12
April 1966,at the Chicago Recruiting Office and
gave Chicago,IL as his home of record.
When Stephen arrived in Vietnam he was as-
signed to Mike Company,3rd Battalion,5th
Marine Regiment,1st Marine Division.
Mike Company was participating in Operation
Desoto in the vicinity of An Troung(2)Hwy QL-
1,3 kilometers north northwest of Duc Pho.The
company was on a combat patrol when they
engaged hostile forces in the area.Stephen
died during the fire-fight,as a result of a gun-
shot wounds thru the neck and face from small
arms fire.
Stephen was single and served his country for
10 months and 4 days.KIA#9,374.
Tour of duty unknown.
He was 19 years,3 months and 17 days old.
Survived by his parents;Stanislaw"Stanley"&
Helen G Matros Borczyk and his brother;John
of 2701 N Lawndale Ave,Detroit,MI.


Stephen was born to Helen Gill and Stanley (Stanislaw) Borczyk (1920-2006).

He was Killed In Action during Operation DESOTO (Jan. 26th - Apr. 7th).

Awarded Purple Heart, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal.
