Vaughn L. Kolbe, resident of Rochester, dies at 98
Vaughn L. Kolbe, 98, of 1020 Sixth Ave. N.W., a retired farmer, died today of complications of advanced age at Bethany Samaritan Heights, where he had been a patient since April.
Mr. Kolbe was born Nov. 29, 1883, in Oronoco. He married Grace Sibley on Dec. 18, 1912, in Rochester. Mrs. Kolbe, a homemaker, survives.
He was a longtime area resident who farmed in Oronoco Township for many years until he retired in 1960. He served on the Oronoco Township Board for 11 years until 1960 and on the School Board for District 101 for six years.
Survivors also include three daughters, Mrs. Albert (Rachel) Isaacson of Grand Meadow, Mrs. Ardell (Marie) Hildestad of Rochester and Mrs. Clarence (Wanda) Rucker of Oronoco, a son Stanley of Oronoco, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Frances Holton and Mrs. Ardel (Marie) Hildestad, both of Rochester.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ranfranz Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Duane M. Gebhard of Christ United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Prairie Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
