Lee McKean Shepherd, 69, of Spanish Fork, died March 3, 2002 at Mountain View Hospital in Payson, Utah from complications of pulmonary fibrosis.
He was born July 15, 1932, in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, to Leland and Jean McKean Shepherd.
He married LaWana Osborne, December 27, 1952, in the Manti LDS Temple.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956.
He graduated from Utah State University and also received a Master's Degree from Brigham Young University.
Lee taught auto mechanics at BYU and in Alpine and Granite School Districts.
He loved family gatherings, hunting, fishing, and BYU football and basketball.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings including bishop, high counselor and stake mission president.
He and his wife served a mission in San Diego in 1996-97.
He is survived by his wife of Spanish Fork; children: Mark (Meg) Shepherd, Paul (Loretta) Shepherd, Tami (Darrell) Hanks, all of South Jordan; Tracey (Karl) Graham of Renton, Washington; Gina Shepherd of Chino Hills, California; Jill (Mike) Christianson of Spanish Fork; sisters: Betty (Del) Loosli of Blackfoot, Idaho; Billie Erickson of Murray; Margaret Nielson of Salt Lake City; mother-in-law, Alta Osborne of Fairview; and 19 grandchildren.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Jean Cunico and Edith Anderson; brother, Jack Shepherd.
A special thank you to all of the doctors, nurses, staff, and many others at the Mountain View Hospital for their kindness and care.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 8, 2002, at 11 a.m. in the Spanish Fork South Stake Chapel, 1150 East 1240 South, Spanish Fork.
Friends may call at Walker Mortuary of Spanish Fork on Thursday, March 7, 2002, from 6-8 p.m. and Friday, March 8, 2002, at the Church from 9:45-10:45 a.m.
Interment will be in the Fairview City Cemetery where a short graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m.
