George Calvin Miner , age 72, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother finished his earthly labors on January 3, 1997, and went home to join his many loved ones who have gone before. He suffered a 15 year illness with nobility, grace, dignity and always good humor.

He was born November 13, 1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Lawrence A. Miner and Sarah Loretta Ellertson. George married the love of his life, Betty Louise Lance, December 31, 1942. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple, February 25, 1943.He attended West High School and graduated from the University of Utah. He was employed by Mountain Bell as a corporate tax accountant, and gave 36 years of quality service.

George served as a navigator on a B17 in World War II and spent eleven months in a prisoner of war camp in Germany.

He was an active and faithful member of the LDS Church and at the time of his death was a High Priest in the Val Verda 6th Ward. Always he was a Christian gentleman in every act and deed.

Survived by his wife, Betty, three children, Marcia (Terry) Smoot of Bountiful, Lance (MaryAnn) Miner of Orem, Graham (Beverly) Miner of Conroe, Texas, 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also four brothers, Aurelius (Bud), John, Richard and Wallace. Preceded in death by parents, sisters Lucille and Fay and granddaughter, Tonya.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 8, 1997 at the Val Verda 6th Ward chapel, 50 West 2651 South, Bountiful. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, and Wednesday morning from 11:45 -12:45 at the chapel.
Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery.
