Mr. Raulerson was the oldest of five children born to Mannie C. and Mae Yarbrough Raulerson. Virgil and his wife Hazel Whitehead Raulerson (who preceded him in death) were the parents of three daughters. He retired from the Jacksonville Terminal Company. Virgil served in the United States Naval Reserves and United States Army. He served in the US Army 10th Mountain Division during World War II in the Italian Po Valley and North Appennies campaign, and received the Bronze Star Medal. He was an accomplished genealogist conducting significant research, and publishing 52 volumes of genealogical information on the Raulerson and allied families. His research is published and cataloged at the Huxford Genealogical Society, Baker County Historical Society, and Polk County Historical Association. He was a Georgia and Florida Pioneer Descendant. He was a member of the Sons of the Revolution, Sons of the American Revolution, and Sons of Confederate Veterans. He was an avid gardener and member of Foster Drive Baptist Church. He was a 55-year member of the Scottish Rite Masonry and a 32nd Degree Master Mason. He was most recently a member of the Albert J Russell Lodge. He was also a member of the Morocco Shrine Temple.
