Life Long Resident Of Penton Passes Sunday.
Mrs. Claudie Ann Abernathy, age 77, lifelong resident of Chambers County, passed away at her home in the Penton community last Sunday at 9 a.m. She had been seriously ill for three days but in failing health for six years. She had lived her entire life in the Penton community.
Funeral services were held from Mt. Hickory Primitive Baptist Church on Monday, March 18 at 2:30 p.m. with Elders W. Y. Jordan and D. P. Hanners conducting. Interment was in Mt. Hickory cemetery with Johnson and Sanders Funeral Home in charge.
Surviving are four daughters, Miss Addie Mae Abernathy, LaFayette Route 3, Mrs. Thomas Bowling, Marianna, FL, Mrs. Ora Smith, LaFayette, and Mrs. Ben Fetner, Cusseta Route 1; three sons, W. M. Abernathy, West Point, Jake Abernathy, Chicago, IL, Joe Sam Abernathy, LaFayette Route 3; 14 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild also survive.
Pallbearers were Bill Adams, Hassell Abernathy, Joe Shaver, Wayne Mitcham, Doy Mitcham, Otis Abernathy.
