Shawn was a 1996 graduate of White Hall High School. He graduated from AR State University at Beebe with an Associate in Applied Science degree in Electronics Engineering Technology in May 1998 at the top of his graduating class. He appeared on the Academic Vice Chancellor's list every semester while attending that school. In May 2002 he graduated Summa Cum Laude from AR Tech University at Russellville with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with a 4.0 grade point average. While attending that school he was elected president of the student section of IEEE electrical engineering society and the student section of ASME mechanical engineering society. He was an engineering tutor and lab assistant at that school. His biography also appears in the 20th edition, volume II of the "National Dean's List". Shawn was a member of the Twin Cypress Hunting Club in Rison, was an avid fisherman, hunter, and enjoyed golfing and target shooting.
He is survived by his mother, Ellen Brown Storz, 4 brothers, Kevin, Brian, Jason, and Kit Storz, of Jefferson; 1 grandmother, Ilse Brown of White Hall.
(Shawn and his wife, Brooke, were killed in a tragic, freak accident while helping another lady who'd slid off the interstate during an ice storm. A car that was traveling at a high rate of speed loss control, sliding into Brooke and Shawn, as they were helping the lady. All three were killed, the driver of the car was un-harmed.)
